18th World Congress on Parasitic Plants

São Sebastião - Brazil May 31st - June 6th

This is the 18th edition of an international congress that gathers scientists from all over the world to present their work, discuss and share experiences about parasitic plants (PP). At this event the latest insights, gained from original research and reviews on the basic biology of PP and their interaction with other organisms, especially crops and trees, will be presented. All aspects of PP biology are covered, ranging from general biology such as flowering and pollination, population ecology, interactions with hosts and fungi, as well as very specific details of molecular biology, gene functioning and biochemical pathways. Attention will also be paid to the management of these plants, in agricultural settings where they are known as important weeds. We are happy to gather parasitic plant enthusiasts together to better understand these magnificent plants, that represent more than 4% of world flora. They represent both marvelous diversity in life forms but also can cause important economic losses in field and tree crops, in countries around the world, with important implications for food security.
